In 5 days time, bigsurf.ie is kicking off the 2011 Irish National Windsurfing Racing Championships at Bantry Bay, in beautiful West Cork. Saturday 9th April, and Sunday 10th April, sees Irelands best slalom racers converge to set themselves up for a good start in the new championship season.

 

 

This event is open to all...windsurfers who can plane and attempt a gybe, are good enough to take part in the Silver fleet racing, while those aiming more for the overall titles and world cup levels of competition take part in the Gold fleet races.

 

For newcomers, the event organisers select a Gold Fleet racer to "buddy" them for the weekend. This can be as simple as giving help with rigging their equipment, advice on tuning, helping lift their gear up and down the beach to actually showing them how to enjoy their racing.

 

For 2011, we`ve received huge support from the local landowner, the local townspeople and local businesses. The Westlodge Hotel has put on an accomodation package, Ma Murphy`s pub is hosting our night outs, The FIsh Kitchen have put on some meal deals, Bantry Photo Services have organised event posters, the Bantry Inshore Lifeboat are on hand if we need them, and Katie`s Chocolate have stepped up to the mark to sweeten up all the competitors taste buds too! And not to forget, Cully & Sully will be feeding us on the beach for both days too!
