It`s Christmas time...Yip!
posted on 01/12/2010
So the bitterly cold weather has finally arrived. Here in Ireland we’re currently experiencing negative degree celsius temperatures and north easterly winds, which are delivering frequent snow showers...nothing by Eastern European standards mind, but enough to render most of Irelands road network unpassable.
But the cold hasn’t stopped many of us from venturing out on the water. The speed sailors have been making use of the solid NE winds at the Burrow Beach in Dublin...watch this space in 2011...lots of interest in speed forecasted for next year. Aaron has been telling us that the waves are still pumping in Sligo, while the minus 2 degree air temperature has not stopped the action at Garretstown either...”return to” windsurfer (pictured) (now riding
MauiSails), kiteboarder, kayaker and Gtown surf school main man Jon Hynes has been regularly updating on his blog.

Everything is full steam ahead at bigsurf.ie...all deliveries are shipping out in good time, despite the heavy weather. We’re fully stocked now and all geared up to get that equipment item to you in time for the festive season.

In other updates, we’re now the Irish retailers for
Chinook windsurfing components. If you have not been able to sample the
Chinook Extensions or
Chinook Booms yet, please do so...they are fantastic...once you swap it’s hard to go back to anything else.

Our
Spartan &
Quiksilver wetties have been flying recently...get yourself wrapped up in some quality neoprene for the cold sessions ahead. And don’t forget your boots, heat vests, gloves and hoods...there is no substitute for good gear when the conditions are cold.

There has been a huge take up in
Stand Up Paddling this past year...don’t stop now because it’s got a bit cold! There are regular paddlers around the country venturing out on distance paddles at the moment, so be sure and get involved! As long as you have a good wetsuit on, you will stay warm as SUP is a great way to burn energy and keep fit. Check out all our SUP’s
HERE.
Conor had his full season of summer kayak fishing trips at 2am in the morning around Cork harbour....we’re sure of a good haul this year by any standards. Check out our angling kayaks HERE...amazing pieces of kit.
Michal, the crazy man in the RIB at Mullaghmore has been facebooking his adventures with his GoPro all year. Be sure and get setup with your GoPro for next years action! Click HERE.

At bigsurf.ie, we build custom surfboards...Eddie had his “Apocalypse Now” stick delivered in November...we had it in the shop for 20 minutes before it was taken on us...but enough time for us to snap this pic...jealous?...us too.

Hopefully you’ll all get a chance to get wet in the next week or so...once this weather passes. Operations here are all go until Christmas, and no matter what you need, be it a 100% carbon mast, a 12m kite, an aluminium paddle or a 6/5/4 hooded Quik wetty, we have it here for you.
Feel free to contact us if you need advice for a Christmas present...lots in stock from €3 upwards!
Thanks for reading...from all the crew at bigsurf.ie!
