Summer`s here, the exams are over and it`s time to get out there and start enjoying ourselves after a long winter!

 

Wow! So much has happened since we last updated back in April...it`s hard to know where to start! Time does fly when you`re having fun! The big news in the bigsurf.ie camp is the arrival of baby Tim on the 18th May. He and new mum are flying...I under estimated the term "sleepless nights" when friends have mentioned it ...it is hard work...thanks for all the tips...although I`ve grown used to reading surf mags at 3am, so it`s not all hard work!

 

We`ve managed to keep on top of all your gear orders...thank you for your continued support. Admitttedly, we fell behind on letting you know about all the new kit thats landed...guess I`ve a great excuse! So where do we start! Stand Up Paddle Boarding is simply addictive. The gear already has seen huge improvements in technology and shape. It`s the biggest growing water sport in the whole world right now and with good reason...anyone can do it. We`ve got a host of Starboards, Red Air`s and RRD`s continually into stock and ready to go for the summer season...check them all out by clicking HERE. Some folks have expressed an interest in trying Stand Up Paddle Boarding. Let`s face it, it`s a lump of an investment and while bigsurf.ie will select the right board for you, it`d be good to know if you even like it in the first place...although we know you will! We 100% recommend Gtown Surf School in West Cork for your first trial on a SUP...the guys there are offering some superb value instruction, using the latest gear, and you are guaranteed to have a blast on your first SUP session! After a massive start to the 2011 Irish National Wave Windsurfing Championships at the bigsurf.ie run Coolmaine event back in

February, things slowed a little for the first round of the Irish Slalom Series where only fun racing could take place in Bantry. Round 2 of the Irish Slalom Series visited the Maharees in Kerry with a stonking wind forecast. While we missed it (gutted), it sounds like everybody in attendance had a ball! Well done to all involved. And as I type, round 3 has just went off in Newtownards with a mix of no wind and plenty of wind to be enjoyed. We all know one of the most important parts of your windsurf gear is the deckplate, UJ and mast extension...right? We`ve a huge

choice in equipment between Radz and Chinook windsurfing components, so please do check your gear before you hit the water and make sure everything is up to scratch. Check for wear, cracks, abrasions, frays in your ropes, corrosion. If in doubt, please

ask...at bigsurf.ie we`re always here to help!

 

 

 

 

In new windsurf kit, one of the most exciting boards we`ve come across in recent times has to be the new RRD Firestorm.
