Your wetsuit is the most important piece of equipment you will need for all watersports.  Your wetsuit should fit correctly, a loose wetsuit will not allow you to heat the water between your skin and the wetsuit, while a wetsuit that is too tight, won`t let you move! 

 

The is much choice in wetsuits, from dry wetsuits to semi-dry wetsuits, to wetsuits that resemble more of a wetsuit vest.  The theory on how a wetsuit works is essentially that it leaves water in between your skin and the wetsuit itself..your body heat then heats that water layer trapped within the wetsuit.

 

 

There are many different types of wetsuit available, for example single lined wetsuits and double lined wetsuits.  Single lined wetsuits tends to have a smooth skin exterior which is great for reducing wind chill, while double lined wetsuits offer wear resistance for contact sports like sailing, kayaking or surfing.  Single line wetsuits are generally better for windsurfing, kitesurfing and Stand Up Paddle Boarding.
